Join the Human Biology Association Public Relations Team!
The HBA Public Relations Committee is recruiting a new JUNIOR SERVICE FELLOW to serve as producer for the weekly science podcast The Sausage of Science (https://www.humbio.org/podcasts/ ). This position is suited to those with interest in science communication and some familiarity with our podcast. We recommend listening to a mix of older and more recent episodes from beginning to end to familiarize yourself with content and style before applying.
Duties will include:
· Editing podcast recordings (using open-source Audacity software, ~2.5 hours every other week),
· Pulling quotes from interviews for PR and compiling program notes (~5 minutes if done in editing workflow),
· Assigning category and tags to each episode for SEO,
· Posting episodes to Soundcloud and HBA site,
· Notify interviewees of episodes and post to social media weekly
· Conducting occasional interviews, if desired
Podcast co-hosts will provide training specific to the job, including custom how-to video tutorials. Expected time commitment is ~6 hours/month.
Each Junior Service Fellow will receive $750 in travel reimbursement to attend the annual HBA meeting for each year of service.
